In 2025, however, they crossed a threshold, becoming the go-to standard for systems demanding high voltage, high efficiency, thermal resilience and long-term reliability. What pushed this shift was not only technological maturity but also the way India’s own priorities accelerated the transition. With the country’s rapid move toward electrification, the growth of its EV ecosystem, the rise of advanced manufacturing and automation, rising renewable energy deployment, and growing demand for high-performance industrial power systems, all supported by India’s fast-developing semiconductor supply chain, SiC moved from “promising” to “practical” in record time.

India’s EV market alone is expected to grow at more than 30% CAGR through the decade, and charging infrastructure deployments have surged across metros and Tier-2 cities. Solar capacity is expanding at more than 20 GW a year, and industrial automation demand continues to rise as factories modernise for competitiveness. These shifts created intense pressure on power electronics to become more efficient, compact and thermally resilient, exactly where SiC MOSFETs excel.
