When Work Feels Empty, Start from Within

IT OFTEN BEGINS SOFTLY. A young professional who once radiated energy now finds herself glancing at the clock more often than she would like. A mid-career leader, previously driven by ambition, starts to notice a weighty feeling each morning. A seasoned executive, admired by many, takes a moment in the serene setting of a meeting room to ponder whether the next milestone truly counts anymore. These moments don't reflect incompetence or burnout; instead, they reveal a deeper concern – a loss of inner connection, purpose, and alignment. That's something we can work on together.

When Work Feels Empty, Start from Within

Quest for Meaning

In today's boardrooms, strategy off-sites, and performance reviews, we often turn to external solutions like rewards, restructures, and retention plans to address these symptoms. While these approaches can be impactful, they sometimes overlook the core issues. Disengagement isn't solely about workload or appraisal cycles; it can also relate to our quest for meaning. That sense of meaning doesn't stem from HR policies – it truly comes from within us. In the Indian worldview, we have always cherished the idea that both the outer and inner dimensions of life hold deep meaning. Our texts not only guide us in our actions but also spark our curiosity to explore the essence of who we are. It's wonderful to see this beautiful spirit of inquiry gently blossoming in today's workplace.

An increasing number of individuals are seeking experiences that provide more than just a salary, benefits, or impressive job titles. They long for significance in their lives. It's not merely about an abstract, lofty purpose; it's about fulfilling a profound, human need to feel genuinely valued. They wish to be recognised for who they truly are. They aspire to grow – not just by ascending the corporate ladder, but by nurturing a deeper, more connected sense of self.
