Mini Globe Race sailors now sailing across the Pacific to Fiji on Leg Two

The starting gun has been fired on Leg Two of the Mini Globe Race.
-

The 15 intrepid solo sailors are now racing their home-made 5.8-metre (19ft) plywood yachts some 7,200 miles across the Pacific to Fiji in the longest of the five legs in the 26,000-mile round-the-world race.
‘Now the real test begins – crossing the largest ocean on Earth in the smallest yachts, with no support. This is where the Mini Globe Race truly earns its reputation as one of sailing’s unique ultimate challenges available to any sailor,’ said Don Mcintyre, race director and ALMA Globe 580 founder. ‘Small boats, HUGE adventure that surprises so many when they discover this story! Yes they are only little boats, sailing solo around the world! They can and they will.’
The Mini Globe Race started on 23 February in Antigua and will end at the same place, approximately 13 months later.
