Headlight brightness set for review

Government to look at car headlight design following complaints from drivers that they're being dazzled

THE GOVERNMENT WILL launch a review into car headlight design as more and more drivers complain of being dazzled at night.

A study by the Transport Research Laboratory, commissioned by the Department for Transport (DfT), found that 96% of drivers surveyed thought most or some vehicle headlights were too bright. The data also suggested that LED and whiter headlights might be more difficult for drivers to cope with, because they emit more blue light - which human eyes struggle to adjust to at night.
