THE BOLWELL STORY is a classic scenario of a shed-built special that became an Aussie icon.

Back in the '60s in the Melbourne suburb of Frankston, Bolwell brothers Campbell, Graeme and Winston would have been classed as hoons, or maybe the more polite 'hotrodders', due to their shared passion for modifying and having fun in cars.
The first special to bear the Bolwell name was actually a flathead Ford V8-powered roadster that began life as a '37 Ford sedan. But after a major crash, the mechanicals were salvaged and a few late nights and skinned knuckles later the brothers had created a makeshift Healey-esque two-seater sportscar with motorbike front guards and bucket seats — Bolwell Mkl.
