On a personal note

Spending time in nature gives us the quiet we need to reflect on things that often remain unresolved amid the hustle and bustle of city life, says Mic van Zyl.

One of the things I enjoy most is chatting to customers – or anyone, really – about overlanding and all things 4x4. As a passionate outdoor and overlanding enthusiast, I know that feeling all too well - when you're out in the bush and something extraordinary happens.

To see this feeling manifest itself on another individual's face as they describe their experience is so enjoyable and fulfilling. As I've mentioned before on these pages, we are truly blessed in this country and region with the spectacular richness and beauty of our fauna and flora.

Some of you may recall from the previous issue my recent personal battle with a bout of throat cancer. From its discovery in August last year to the completion of treatment at the end of February of this year, it has been a rather tough and trying journey. Sadly, during this time, I was unable to leave my home thus there was no overland touring or camping.
