The TVS Apache 310 RR Road Test

- AKAASH BHADRA

IT IS ALL ABOUT THE JOURNEY

When I got the call from TVS that I could ride the new Apache RR 310 (with winglets), I was both happy and fearful at the same time. I was happy because me and Anant kept on talking about the motorcycle after he rode it at the CoASTT circuit and now, I had the opportunity to test it on the road! And for roughly 1600km. The fearful part was that I am not really a touring kind of guy and doing the journey on a sportsbike configuration… my butt started yelling at me at the sound of it. But boy oh boy, was I in for a surprise… Let me not get ahead of me, let me set a little more context.

I was going to ride down to attend the 2024 MotoSoul and IBW in Goa from Mumbai. The biggest motorcycle festival in India! 1300 odd kilometers… And TVS gave me an option I couldn’t refuse. I could either take the Apache RTR 310, our long-term review motorcycle or I could take the new Apache RR 310. WOW! I am impressed with the RTR 310 as it fits my state of riding. I know many like a relaxed way of riding, however, riding it every kilometer gives me absolute joy (especially in the Supermoto mode). But I chose the new RR 310 instead. Let’s see if it can take 1300 km of me.

So, I set out from Mumbai early to catch up with my group, who were starting from Pune. I used the old Bombay-Pune highway and thanks to the powerful lights of the RR 310, it was rather easy. Immediately what I realised was the state of tune was so different in the RR310 than the RTR. The difference was stark and I’m happy to say that all the improvements have been made in the positive direction. Yes on paper, the power output has been increased, but you will realise that the engine has become a lot less stressed and now it loves to be ridden a little less hard. How did they manage to do that while increasing power? Some form of engineering magic.

EASY GOING MILE MUNCHER: HERO XOOM 160

AFTER WHAT FEELS LIKE AN ETERNITY, we've finally had the chance to ride the Hero Xoom 160. I was really looking forward to it — not just because it's India's first homegrown maxi-scooter, but also because it brings something unique to the table, with a style and character that leans more towards the adventure segment. Unveiled at EICMA 2024, the Xoom 160 made its India debut at the Bharat Mobility Show earlier this year, and was launched at ₹1.49 lakh. It features a new engine, stronger underpinnings, and a host of other upgrades, all aimed at competing with the likes of the Yamaha Aerox 155 and the new TVS NTorq 150. So, what’s it like from behind the handlebar? Read on to find out.

THE TVS NTORQ 150 WAS A HIGHLY anticipated scooter, but the TVS Orbiter is a scooter that nobody expected. Designed to be a comfy and practical everyday runabout, it's aimed at those who want something laid-back, but with a head turning design and a fairly good range.
