Kei class-compliant EV could come to Europe if E-car proposal takes off

BYD could bring its new Racco kei car to Europe if the EU's mooted E-car category for small cars increases the viability of such models.

The Racco was revealed at the Tokyo motor show last month as a landmark non-Japanese entry into a segment that represents almost a third of car sales in the country and which is served almost exclusively by domestic manufacturers.

The Racco has been designed and engineered to meet the kei class regulations of Japan, where it's initially set to be sold exclusively. It measures 3.4m long, 1.475m wide and 1.8m tall and has boxy, straight-edged styling similar to its Japanese kei class rivals.
