MAHINDRA THAR
Auto Today
|October 2025
It isn't often that a vehicle gets an up- date to address shortcomings, and even rarer when it is the country's most successful off-roader
The Thar has been a runaway success for Mahindra ever since its superbly timed launch in 2020.
In fact, it crossed the 2,00,000 unit sales mark last year. And for a vehicle that does not make a lot of sense if you're practical or think along any lines of comfort, the Thar is a true emotion. Nevermind the ill repute the SUV gets owing to hooligans getting 23-inchers and swerving around with the Thar, the ones who actually put the SUV through the paces in far reaches of this country know what it is capable of, and it is a lot.
Now coming to the updates, which surprisingly is the first time that Mahindra has done anything to the three-door Thar, is mainly in the realm of fixing issues and misses. First of all, the grille has been changed, to match the body colour while the bumper, while continuing with the same design, has a two-tone look. It is mainly on the inside that customers get an upgrade, and the first one is pretty easy to spot - the A-pillar mounted grab-handle, that a lot of Thar owners added, makes getting into this tall SUV easy.
