Faster Golf R unleashed packing 329bhp

THE covers have been pulled off the updated Volkswagen Golf R hatchback and Estate, months after the standard Golf was revealed to the public.

Tweaks include a subtle new look, and a range-topping Black Edition (right) for the first time.

There's a different front bumper that incorporates new intakes for better aero, and optional 19-inch wheels that save up to 8kg of unsprung weight per corner.

Inside, the R features the same updates to its infotainment system as the rest of the Golf range, with a 12.9-inch display.
