Indian component manufacturers have steadily expanded capacity, improved process control, and built cost competitiveness over the past decade. However, as export ambitions grow, especially toward regulated markets such as Japan, Europe and parts of Southeast Asia, the determining factor for market access is increasingly shifting away from manufacturing capability alone. Instead, validation depth, certification readiness and compliance documentation are emerging as critical gates that must be cleared before a product can even be considered export-ready. Across sectors including steel, electrical equipment, automotive components and industrial systems, testing and certification are no longer end-of-line formalities. They are becoming upstream requirements that influence design choices, material selection and supplier qualification well before production ramps up.
