ADAS Standards for India

As India accelerates towards intelligent mobility, the urgency to define and adopt ADAS standards becomes undeniable

India is on the cusp of a major automotive transformation. As vehicles get smarter and more connected, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are becoming integral to this shift. But while global markets have moved swiftly to define and regulate ADAS, India still lacks standardisation tailored to its unique road conditions and mobility behaviour. Despite increasing interest from OEMs and technology players, ADAS penetration in India remains below two per cent, largely due to infrastructural inconsistencies, lack of regulatory mandates, and high system costs. The absence of India-specific standards continues to limit adoption and effectiveness.
