Grant Brereton previews a very special retirement sale from Steve Dace, a poultry legend
-
Due to a number of factors, Steve Dace of Cheshire Poultry has decided to call it a day with his large Laced Wyandottes and Sebastopol Geese. For almost two decades Steve has bred and shown his large Laced Wyandottes to an exceptionally high standard, securing many accolades along the way. His set up has been the perfect environment to rear good numbers each year, allowing for plenty of selection and giving many people a start in the variety.
His favourites are the Silver Laced, followed closely behind by the Blue Laced, Buff Laced and Gold Laced. He's bred and shown some outstanding stock in all colours, even taking 'Best Large Fowl Trio' at the Federation show with a fine threesome of large 'Silvers.' Year on year Steve would be in the cards at the highest level - National, Federation and Scottish National shows, taking many 'Best Laced Wyandotte' or Reserve awards.
