The homesick royal struggles with isolation from her Aussie family

For Princess Mary, marrying a European prince and moving her entire life to a Danish palace has gone from a dream come true to a never-ending nightmare.

New pictures of the 49-year-old mum obtained by Woman's Day show her looking "deeply distressed" after an annual deer hunt and sources say of late she's finding royal life isn't all it's cracked up to be.

“Mary feels terribly alone in Copenhagen and she's feeling extremely worn down by living in the palace fishbowl,” says an insider. “There are things she doesn't agree with, such as the hunting, which she's gone along with in the past, but now that her children are growing up and taking issue with it, she's finding it harder to stay quiet."

Indeed, with her four children - Prince Christian, 16, Princess Isabella, 14, and 10-year-old twins Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent - getting older, Mary is feeling more isolated still.
