Sun & Seclusion In St Lucia

Looking for the ultimate couples escape? This Caribbean island is ideal for love birds – and it’s even better when you’ve got your own butler!

Sun & Seclusion In St Lucia

WHY GO?

With two coastlines of secluded sandy bays, orange-hued sunsets and seriously classy hotels, St Lucia is arguably the most romantic of the Caribbean islands. The lack of big roads on this mango-shaped island and the lush rainforests mean it has retained a lost-in-paradise feeling, while the direct flights make the journey here a cinch. And although you could spend your whole break on a cushioned sun lounger, there are mountain adventures and ocean activities aplenty.

RELAX IN STYLE

A stay at the Sandals Grande St Lucian feels like slipping into a dream. The 17-acre adults-only resort is on its own peninsula on the north-west coast, sandwiched between the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea. There are 16 different room grades, but as my husband and I were on honeymoon we pushed the boat out and chose a butler-serviced room. With a member of staff on hand 24 hours a day to help book excursions or serve cocktails on the balcony, we didn’t even have to unpack our own bags!

The centre piece of our spacious room was the huge four-poster bed. Facing the sea, the sun peeping through the blinds every morning was a romantic way to start the day.
