CMMI Inaugurates New Office

The Company of Master Mariners of India moved into its new and upscale office in Marol, Mumbai on 10th December 2016. The auspicious ‘ribbon cutting ceremony’ was performed by the octogenarian and senior most - Capt J C Anand (Founder, IRS) in the honourable presence of maritime stalwart - Capt P S Barve and other distinguished guest.

Capt Phillip Mathew, Master, CMMI welcomed the guests, which included seasoned Master Mariners, Government Heads and members of CMMI. The delight and excitement of moving into a bigger and more spacious office to plan more activities and better function as an organized body was evident and quite palpable among all fraternity present.
Speaking with Sailor Today, Capt Mathew shared a brief background of CMMI. Starting with humble beginnings, the need for this professional body was first felt by the visionaries like Capt P S Barve, Capt J C Anand, Capt Kirti Guha and others, way back in 1956. The CMMI was registered in 1957 and this vision became a reality. Working towards a united goal, the CMMI will complete 60 - most glorious and successful years, next year in 2017!
