Trans Pennine Debut For Class 68s

The first loco-hauled passenger working took place at the very end of 2017 in rather unusual circumstances.
WHILE 2018 should bring the introduction of Class 68-hauled passenger trains on certain TransPennine Express routes, the inaugural working unexpectedly took place late on December 30.
This was the result of contractual obligations requiring TPE to run a loco-hauled service before the end of 2017. Even more unusual was the route selected for the train, this being a single out and back trip between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport.
