Upgrade work brings overnight locos to NIR’s Lisburn-Lurgan line

PHASE TWO of the Lisburn-Lurgan Ballast Rehabilitation Project commenced on January 9 and it is planned to last a total of 12 weeks.
As with Phase One, which ran from February 14 to March 26 last year, the project is being undertaken at night in order to minimise disruption to train services. The work is being carried out on Tuesdays to Saturdays under a total engineers' possession, and late evening services on the Belfast to Portadown line have been altered on these days during the project’s duration.
The 20.50 Dublin Connolly to Belfast Central ‘Enterprise’ calls additionally at Lurgan and Lisburn as the 22.35 ex-Portadown does not operate, while passengers from Moira are transported to Lisburn by bus. Both the 20.50 and replacement bus connect into a 23.00 Lisburn to Bangor stopping train. The 23.10 Belfast Great Victoria Street (GVS) to Portadown service is replaced by a bus and serves all stations.
