WORCESTERSHIRE assistant bowling coach Alan Richardson might have seen his batsman chase down a mammoth 352 but he saved his praise for the bowlers ahead of today’s One-Day Cup quarter-final tie against Somerset.
Their victory against Derbyshire – courtesy of a stunning 130 from opener Riki Wessels off just 62 deliveries – was supplemented by Callum Ferguson’s unbeaten century (103 not out) as they consolidated second place in their conference to set up the Somerset clash.
It was a typically robust batting performance – the Rapids scored 367 against Lancashire and 315 against Worcestershire last month in similarly blistering wins.
But as his in-form team prepare to do battle, Richardson gave special credit to one of his more experienced bowlers who has stepped up his game this season.
