Gatting Is No Ordinary Joe For Soaring Swardston

SWARDESTON and former Sussex batsman Joe Gatting believes he is batting better now than at any stage during his professional career.
Gatting, who scored his fourth hundred of the season last weekend and is averaging healthily above 50, guided Swardeston to a convincing 222-run win over fellow East Anglian Premier League side Sudbury.
And Gatting, who has also taken 77 wickets this year, put his form down to him now having a better understanding of the way he bats.
“I think I understand my game a lot more now,” he said.
“I’m 31 years old now and they say that’s the sort of age when your batting starts to peak. To be honest I think I’m batting better now than I ever was in my professional career.
“Obviously it’s good that I’m scoring runs – but also the fact I’m taking wickets, but at the end of the day that is my job.”
