Manchester City Project Starting to Get Serious

Back in February Manchester City confirmed the arrival of Pep Guardiola on a three-year deal. The Spaniard is currently the best manager in the world, and you knew back then that the Citizens were putting their pedal to the metal.

For a very long time now, the blue half of Manchester has been seen as a second fiddle to the red half of Manchester, and rightly so; while City have been through the doldrums of being in the second and even in the third tier of English football, Manchester United have been winning titles not only domestically but also on the continent. Same can be said about the other big clubs in England. However, the things have changed recently.

In the last few years, thanks to the money that has come in at the Etihad stadium, the tide has turned and Manchester City has earned the respect of the elitist in Europe. That respect would have again gone through the roof with the announcement of Pep Guardiola coming as a manager. He is a man who has had a stellar playing career and who took Barcelona to a whole different level and won three Bundesliga titles with Bayern Munich in his three years in Germany.

With the Spaniard’s arrival, there was talk that things will change and that few players will be moved on and some (expensive) new players will be brought in. The playing style will change too, with the 45-year-old being big fan of playing out from the back and keeping possession and then hurting teams with intricate passing and precise movement at pace.
