Having blanked New Zealand 5-0 in the T20Is, India went into the three-match ODI series on a high. However, the one-dayers turned out to be quite an anti-cli-max as the Kiwis exacted sweet revenge, inflicting a whitewash of their own on the visitors, winning the ODI series 3-0. After a record chase of 348 at Hamilton, New Zealand proceeded to win the series at Auckland, recovering commendably after being reduced to 197 for 8. By the time the Mount Maunganui ODI arrived, India were pretty low on confidence, and it reflected in the way they conceded the series without much of a fight.
