When it comes to discussing about great ODI batsmen of the last decade, the names of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and David Warner instantly come to mind. New Zealand’s veteran Ross Taylor is rarely spoken about in the same breath. However, in the first ODI against India at Hamilton Taylor served a timely reminder that he is not too far behind the above-mentioned names. Taylor’s sublime 109 not out from 84 balls saw the Kiwis ace a target of 348, their highest ever chase in ODIs. This is not the first time Taylor has stood up for the team and delivered. In fact, he has been New Zealand’s Man Friday for quite a few years. Just like his team though, he has gone about his job in an understated manner.
