We are past the fifth week of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. At the end of week five, defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) were on top of the points table with 14 points from 10 matches. They were followed by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who were on 11 points each after 10 games after a washout in their clash. The mid-table crunch continued as four teams were on 10 points – Rajasthan Royals (RR), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Mumbai Indians (MI), and Punjab Kings (PBKS). Looking at the bottom half of the points table, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and Delhi Capitals (DC) were languishing at the end. KKR had eight points, SRH and DC six each. RR’s Yashasvi Jaiswal and CSK’s Devon Conway will be the left-handed opening batting combination. Jaiswal makes the cut for his sensational 124 off 62 balls in the match against Mumbai Indians (MI). The knock featured 16 fours and eight sixes. Jaiswal was declared Player of the Match despite RR ending up on the losing side.
