The furor over the treatment meted out to Karun Nair is quite justified. He was the only one in the squad not to play a Test in England when he certainly could have been accommodated as a middle order batsman in the side with the visitors suffering four defeats in five matches and the batting being the main reason for the losses. Secondly Hanuma Vihari who along with Prithvi Shaw joined the squad midway through as replacements for Murali Vijay and Kuldeep Yadav was drafted in to make his debut in the final Test at the Oval. Nair has every right to feel aggrieved. As one of the original members of the squad he could at least have played that game instead of Vihari. After all he was taken on the tour as an extra batsman and he should have had first bite at the cherry.
