Rohit even has the ability to turn his strike rate from good to excellent to unbelievable. If he gets in the zone, there is no reason why he cannot hit a double hundred even in the T20 format.

5 PLAYERS WHO CAN BREAK CHRIS GAYLES RECORD OF 175 NOT OUT

After all, the Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper holds the record for having slammed the most double hundreds in the one-day format. The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has started with a bang. With the wickets expected to be good for batting, a lot of runs can be scored. Over the years, many records have been broken in the IPL. However, one record that no one has come close to breaking is the 175 not out off 66 balls Chris Gayle slammed for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) against Pune Warriors in 2013. We look at five contenders who could threaten the record during IPL 2022.

1. RUTURAJ GAIKWAD

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opener Ruturaj Gaikwad has been in exceptional form with the bat over the last few months. It all began during the 2021 season when he hammered 635 runs in CSK's title-winning campaign. The performance included his maiden hundred as well. Gaikwad won the Orange Cap and was Chennai's key man with the bat right through the tournament. Even after the IPL, he continued his form in domestic cricket, smashing four hundreds for Maharashtra in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. If he sets his sight on the target, he has the ability to gun it down.
