Richardson dodges traffic to win in Scotland

Despite being delayed by two tractors and a minibus Cameron Richardson (RT 23) came through to win the final round of Merlin Cycles Classic Time Trial Series near Dumfries in Scotland on Sunday. Despite his difficult outward leg on the rolling 26.2-mile course Richardson clocked a time of 52-41 – three minutes clear of his rivals.

“After I was stuck behind the tractors on the way out I pushed on a bit too much and was a bit gassed,” said Richardson.

“For three miles after that I recovered. I pushed on over the climbs to try and make up the time that I had lost.”

Tommy Murray (GS Metro) took second place clocking 55-57 while Rory Downie (Roarsz Performance) finished third (57-30).

Richardson’s fiancée, Becky Storrie (Brother UK-Team OnForm), showed her time trialling ability to win the women’s event in a time of one hour, one minute and 20 seconds.

Storrie, originally from the Isle of Man, is hoping to compete for her homeland in the Commonwealth Games next year.
