Big Pike Chewed By Otters?
Angler's Mail
|February 28,2017
Concerns raised, Sightings damage, Fishery give assurance.
THERE is growing concern about the predation threat to the UK’s premier pike water, Chew Valley in Somerset, after two otters were seen by one angler on the same day.
Experienced predator angler Phil Wakeford, from Reading, Berkshire, reported: “On my recent trip to Chew I saw two otters.
“I spotted one when I was in a boat off Moreton. It appeared on the surface and swam towards the boat. It then dived under, leaving a stream of bubbles. I then saw another swim into Villice Bay.

One of his favourite methods for this cunning species is a maggot feeder with a short hook link.
