Is Organic Really Necessary?
Mother & Baby India
|January 2021
Going organic has definite advantages in minimising exposure to harmful chemicals and is a choice for many a parent if they can afford it
-
When Megha Sharma, mum to one year old Amrut, began to research what best to feed her fussy baby, she came across an article that said that babies exposed to pesticides develop ADHD (Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), and could possibly have lower IQs. This knowledge triggered a morbid fear which soon grew to mammoth proportions. Megha became paranoid about everything she fed Amrut, and planning his meals became an ordeal.
Megha would do the round of shops looking for pesticide-free produce, and never bought anything that wasn’t labeled organic. So fixated was she that would opt for processed food like biscuits for the baby rather than fresh fruit that was not organic.
