BIG-HEARTED Non-League clubs wasted no time in responding to England and Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford’s campaign for free school meals – by serving them up themselves.
The 23-year-old was recently awarded an MBE for his work in successfully campaigning for the government to allow 1.3 million children to claim free school meal vouchers in England’s summer holidays during the pandemic, and he is continuing the fight to end child food poverty.
Local businesses across the country have responded to Rashford’s appeal for help and so too have NonLeague clubs.
Maidstone United delivered 1,400 lunches during August and they’re back in the kitchen this half-term before making more doorto-door trips.
