UP's Finances Make Yogi Walk A Tight Rope

The pro-poor and populist approach of BJP has forced the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to go for a tight rope walk to fulfil the agenda set forth by his party keeping in view of 2019 parliamentary elections. The government machinery is busy in working out a bailout plan to deliver its best from its meager financial resources that is already squeezed in view of ongoing projects of previous government including dream project like “Metro Rail”, “Expressways” etc. If these projects are delayed, it will enhance its cost projections that may hamper future infrastructural growth of the state affecting its development.

Adityanath has also announced a six-lane Expressway to connect Delhi to facilitate industrial development of the state. A six-lane Eastern Expressway to connect Ballia to Lucknow is also underway demanding major finances to complete it on time. Farm loan waiver, round the clock power and going to launch “Annpoorna Canteen” schemes in Uttar Pradesh to provide full meal in just Rs.5.00 and breakfast in Rs.3.00. Laptops to students would require around Rs.1800 crores.
