TRILATERAL POTENTIAL OF UAE-ISRAEL-INDIA TIES
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Diplomatist
|April 2021
The region of West Asia assumes special strategic salience for multiple interests and has come into focussed strategic sphere of India under the ‘Look West’ policy and ‘Extended Neighbourhood’ policy.
The initiative of normalisation with the ‘Abraham accord’ between its two strategic partners in the region- Israel and UAE is in consonance with India’s vision of security and stability in the region marred by conflicts and instability for long. The deal has produced the desired climate for India to pursue its interests both in the Gulf and with Israel It also provides an unprecedented opportunity to involve with greater intensity and coordination in this strategic backyard along with UAE, the rising power in the Gulf and Israel, the innovation leader of the region.
Such peace gesture and initiative is of paramount significance under the unprecedented pandemic underway. The combining of capacities are the most desired prerequisites for a safer and better world as we all face the same challenges across the borders. The accord has generated a very complementary condition for all the three countries to benefit and support one another for their mutually reinforcing interests and visions. The scope of cooperation and collaboration have been widened to work together mutually in such areas as health, joint medical research and development cooperation to build enhanced capacities to combat the pandemic underway and preparedness to deal with the future ones. The manufacturing capability of India can be reaped with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, “Making in India, for India and for the World” said H.E. Dr Ron Malka, Israel’s Ambassador to India.
