Local NIAS Crew Member Takes Up Role As Royal Photographer For The Day

A MAGHERAFELT man, who has dedicated the last 25 years helping those in need, was given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity recently to photograph His Royal Highness (HRH) Prince Harry.
David Shaw, who works an Emergency Medical Technician for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS), changed his focus for one day only when he was chosen as the official NIAS photographer for the Royal visit to the official opening of the service’s new divisional headquarters in Ballymena.
Prince Harry officially opened the new £5.6 million Ballymena Ambulance Station on September 7.
The Prince spent over an hour at the station meeting NIAS staff of all grades from ten different stations across the north.
The day was a memorable occasion for all staff belonging to the service but more so for David, who was given he honour of capturing it all with his camera.
