A conversation with Meghaa Isrrani, founder of Isrrani photography and signature films, leads Tina Thakrar to understand the nuances of the fine art of wedding photography and filmmaking

When the typical Indian ‘wedding season’ descends upon the country for six months every year, pandemonium is a given. What goes on behind the scenes at every wedding is something very few are privy to, and Meghaa Isrrani is one of them. Giving a semblance of a story to the coming together of two people is Meghaa’s wedding photography and film making company, Isrrani Photography and Signature Films.

From small, intimate festivities to week-long wedding cruises; from simple ceremonies to full-blown destination weddings, Meghaa has dug deep into the dreams of the bride and groom with stills and short films capturing the candid, joyful, sad, nerve-wracking, and exhilarating moments that make up the ‘big fat Indian wedding’. Since setting up the company with her brother, photographer Luv Israni, in 2011, Meghaa has worked on almost 70-80 weddings a year, sometimes rushing between 7-8 weddings a day during peak season!
