Being A Role Model

Low Ngai Yuen shares with us why it’s important to embrace the opportunities that come your way.

Low Ngai Yuen has long been invested in the country’s arts scene – but she isn’t just Kakiseni’s president. She also sits on the Women Advisory and Consultative Board for the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, and was recently appointed as the executive director of Global Entrepreneurship Movement, an NGO that focuses on building international market access for entrepreneurs. “Juggling multiple roles isn’t really the issue. It’s more important what kind of role model you are to your children and the community. That should matter more. Embrace opportunities,” says Ngai Yuen.

If there is one value you could instil in young girls, what would it be?

I’d have them constantly think up ideas to solve problems. The future is no longer about just having ambitions. The conversations of the future is about how everyone can contribute and add value.
