Stripes renaissance

|

February 2022

Never really out of fashion, the classic stripe is having a particular moment right now and it’s less about the country ticking look and more about adding personality

- ARABELLA YOUENS

Stripes renaissance

ON REPEAT

From A Rum Fellow’s Promenade collection, these stripes are shown off best when layered for a dramatic yet classic look. Bed and headboard in Scoop Stripe in Neptune, £115m; curtains in Drift Stripe in Atlantic, £115m; Komorebi rug in Dusk, from £1,620, all A Rum Fellow.

CASUALLY JOYFUL

There is little more charming than a loose slipcover in a pleasing stripe weave and contrast piping is the cherry on top. The stripe here is inspired by a fabric originally used for sacking to collect olives on the Mediterranean periphery, handwoven in India to achieve the loose, open weave and softness of the original. Olive sacking in Peacock, £90m, Guy Goodfellow.

INSTANT HIT

A striped rug or runner is a simple way to deliver personality to a plain space. As an investment piece, it will never go out of fashion. Kilim rug, from a selection, Sinclair Till. Enfilade sideboard, £5,040, Les Trois Garçons. Lamp, from a selection, Porta Romana. Black Still Life bottles, Akiko Hirai at The Cold Press.
