Driven by the desire to reveal nature’s spectacular hidden intricacies, British artist Evi Antonio combines digital technology with traditional oil glazing techniques to express her vision of the natural world. Represented by Runway Gallery, an online showcase of contemporary art, Evi looks to create the same sense of curiosity and wonder that a museum specimen cabinet holds.

I grew up in north London and dreamt of the countryside. I was fascinated by the images in early natural history books and always loved drawing. I can’t remember when I didn’t carry a sketchbook and pencils with me. After graduating with a degree in scientific and natural history illustration from Middlesex University, I worked as a natural history illustrator.
