ALL ABOUT HUD (HEAD-UP DISPLAY)
Aviation Update
|July 2021
The HUD (Head-Up Display) is the next generation of flight instrumentation; although this technology was used in military operations since the 1980s, it recently emerged in civilian aircraft operations.
-

Next Generation
HUD's key benefits are that it allows the pilots to view the outside world and the instruments together and eliminate the need to change the view at a critical phase of the flight. 90% of the information to fly the aircraft is attained visually by the pilots. In conventional aircraft, the pilots need to scan at least more than six instruments to fly at a moment, making eye stress and fatigue. This stress eventually creates a loss of situational awareness, making pilots miss essential data during a critical time, e.g. approach and landing phase. To put it more simply, HUD is nothing but presenting information on a see-through screen in front and allows the pilots to see the aircraft information and the outside atmosphere, making more situational awareness and avoiding delayed decisions.
History Fact
Wright brother’s first aircraft had only three instruments - A stopwatch, Tachometer, and Anemometer.

Future Cultural Challenges for Airlines And Airports
Introduction Assuming we are all alike is one of the greatest mistakes we human beings are making all the time. Another mistake we constantly make is to assume that our way of doing things is the only right way. So when people do things differently e.g. how people queue up or what we ascribe status to we try to educate them to do or see it our way. This is usually not well received and a conflict starts.
