He was once the king of the cooking world, with a sprawling restaurant empire that drew legions of A-list followers, including Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston. But things have come crashing down for Jamie Oliver in spectacular fashion, leaving the star and his wife Jools “devastated”.

As the celebrity chef’s chain of eateries across the UK was forced into administration last week, an estimated 1300 staff were facing redundancy.

Jamie’s restaurant business had been drowning in debt for years, despite him sinking $24 million from his own $441 million fortune to try and save it.

The emotional toll was clear to see as the dad-of-five and his 44-year-old wife stepped out on May 21 in London, with Jamie, who turns 44 this week, looking visibly shaken.
