Morven Christie is back on the case as Morecambe is rocked by an execution-style murder

Morecambe-set murder mystery The Bay gripped audiences and drew favourable comparisons with Broadchurch when it aired in 2019.
Starring The A Word’s Morven Christie, the series centred on family liaison officer and single mum Lisa Armstrong, whose personal and professional lives collided during a police investigation into a pair of missing twins.
This week, as The Bay returns for an eagerly-anticipated second series, Lisa is still feeling the effects of her fall from grace in series one, when she failed to disclose a one-night stand with a murder suspect, Sean (Jonas Armstrong), and was disciplined by her boss, DI Manning (Daniel Ryan).
‘There were always going to be some long-term ramifications for those events,’ says Christie. ‘Lisa was suspended, and now she’s in a precarious financial position. She’s had to move out of her house, so she’s in a flat with the kids, and she has a difficult relationship with her mum [played by Lindsey Coulson].’
Lisa’s returned to work, but things haven’t got better, and she’s now a DC.
