The Today Show’S Hoda Kotb Opens Up About Adopting Daughter Hope Catherine—And How Much Becoming A Mom Of 2 Has Already Changed Her

In the 11 days since she became a mother of two, Hoda Kotb has had a revelation: She needs to relax.

“My first time around, I spent my whole time going, ‘I got it! I got it!’” says Kotb, who adopted daughter Hope Catherine in April, two years after welcoming her older daughter Haley Joy with Joel Schiffman, her partner since 2013. “I didn’t know what to expect with two. All of a sudden with two kids you’re like, ‘Wait, baby one is crying, baby two needs to be put down. Hope is hungry, Haley needs me.’ I was always like, ‘I have to fix it! Here I come.’ Now I’m just like, ‘Haley’s safe. She’s good. The baby’s going to eat in a minute. She’ll be okay,’” the Today show anchor says, rocking her newborn daughter to sleep during a photo shoot in her New York City apartment. “I’m not being Pollyanna with rose-colored glasses or anything. I’ve loved it all. The worst day I’ve loved and the best day I’ve loved. It’s the most awesome thing in the world, and I can’t believe we get to do it.”
