3 Of The Best Cabarets

MOULIN ROUGE

The crowd-pulling power of the famous illuminated red windmill, a glowing heart of Montmartre, has hardly diminished since its opening by Joseph Oller and Charles Zidler in 1889. Tour buses still line up to experience the greasepaint, sequins and feathers of its shows, and its high-kicking stars. During its first century, the Moulin Rouge saw the birth of can-can and variety acts, as well as artistes such as Édith Piaf, Charles Trenet and Charles Aznavour. These days, it is all about the classic Doriss girls with their feather headdresses, rhinestone-encrusted costumes and dazzling smiles, and the ultimate evening of entertainment. From €175pp for dinner and show. moulinrouge.fr
