Francesca Cuda on how collaboration is the best way to bring business strategy to life

Unifying Diverse Teams

In order to build products and services that have meaningful impact and can change our lives, we need broad teams of designers, data scientists, marketers, system architects, project managers, copywriters and UX specialists.

Teams need to work in a fluid and collaborative way. Part of this is an ability to speak one another’s language and see problems and opportunities from other perspectives. An ability to communicate and give feedback constructively when developing business strategy is critical. This requires effective leadership, as well as an understanding of the landscape of disciplines that feed into today’s plethora of digital products and services.

OTHER PERSPECTIVES

Unleashing the collective genius is about recognising diverse backgrounds and knowledge from different disciplines. The best multidisciplinary teams always seek outside perspectives rather than considering their work through the lens of departmental functions. Team members are encouraged to respect each other’s inputs and build upon findings, avoiding a situation where any one person’s thinking dominates.
