Sparks often fly when Jonni Bidwell puts his review hat on and uses something that isn’t (gulp) Arch.

Sparky Linux 2019.08

Sparky Linux is a coverdisc favourite here at Future Towers – it might even be on there next issue. Up until recently, it has maintained a stable release – the 4.x series based on Debian Stable – and a rolling release, the 5.x series based on Debian testing. Now things have been shuffled and new additions to the 5.x series are now based on the new edition of Debian Stable, ‘Buster’, which was released in July, and there’s a new, unnumbered, semi-rolling release based on Debian Testing ‘Bullseye’.

We were going to review Buster on this very page, but that would read something like “It’s Debian, it doesn’t break, it does what you need, review over” (that’s why he gets the big bucks – Ed). So we thought we’d cover Sparky’s Rolling edition with Xfce instead. And we have.
