He is young, dynamic and has steered MX Player, a relatively new (two years old) OTT platform to a top-notch position challenging Goliaths like Netflix and Amazon Prime. In an exclusive interview with Sumita Chakraborty, MX Player CEO Karan Bedi reveals why MX Player doesn’t want to dabble in huge theatrical releases of Bollywood films, their exciting new plans for 2021 and much more.

Karan, one of the youngest, MX player, is now one of the biggest platforms in the OTT domain. How has the journey been?
As you said, we are probably the youngest player in the OTT market, we launched only less than two years ago. It’s been a phenomenal journey because we came into the market with a very strong proposition about where we wanted to position ourselves. And, I think we’ve done that with great success. We are now the largest OTT platform in the country and have seen great success on it. So it’s been very hectic, very fast paced but a wonderful journey in the last two years.
Not taking away anything from your success, but do you think you were in the right place at the right time? As you know the pandemic saw the rise of the OTT, right?
