In a crisis, we come to a turning point. We have to decide. It’s this intensity which makes it feel like a crunch moment, because humans have a natural affinity with the status quo. Very few of us like change.
In the past few months, remote working has gone from a nice-to-have to a must-have. The World Economic Forum estimates that pre-Covid-19, only 7 per cent of US workers regularly worked from home while in Europe it was around 25 per cent. Many organisations regarded remote working as a benefit only available for more senior executives and some knowledge workers. All that’s changed.
