Championing The Cause Of Entrepreneurship

INDIA’S YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS show no fear in treading a new path or in pursuing their dreams, They leave no stones unturned in order to achieve their goals. To celebrate this spirit BW Businessworld felicitated 40 winners under the age of 40 who have demonstrated exceptional contribution in their work and personal growth. Thee have built new businesses or are making a difference in the success of their companies and are even influencing a large section of businesses, communities (in which they live), and the overall economy with their disruptive innovation in this world.

The second edition of BW Businessworld 40under40 awards and summit was held on 27 September at The Leela Ambience, Gurugram. The event commenced with an inaugural session by Annurag Batra, Chairman & Editor-inChief, BW Businessworld. Jyotsna Sitling, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship later took the stage and spoke about the government’s role in boosting entrepreneurship in India.

“As far as this ministry is concerned, we have been mandated to handle expansion of youth entrepreneurship, education and capacity and will build national standards that will help entrepreneurs who are coming from the IT (background) helping to get an IT ecosystem built. We work very closely with Niti Aayog and all the primary stakeholders of the ministries from the industry department and especially from the skill department. Yes, entrepreneurship is very important but at the same time the support ecosystem that needs to go from the skill part of things. It is very important to have the whole value chain organised. We need to have skilled manpower on the ground at each level of the value chain. Given that even within the skill vertical what we have done is we are focussing on most on to the candidates not at the high end of the socio economic pyramid (but) at the lower end of the socio-economic pyramid,” said Sitling.
