Once you’ve attested the glee and gusto of their wedding celebration, the most extravagant of weddings would seem to be bland. They never let go of the briefest moment to enjoy and make merry. Their weddings are vivacious and jubilant to the core, they are steeped in old age with unique and interesting traditions. The traditional wedding rituals of Punjab include takha, rokha, mangni, sagai, sangeet, and mehendi which form the pre-wedding rituals whereas ceremonies like choora chadhai and kalire, ghada ghardoli, batna, sehra bandi form the wedding day rituals. Some other aspects of a Punjabi wedding include pheras and kanyadaan while it ends with a opulent reception and heartfelt bidaai.

Roka Ceremony

The roka ceremony is held soon after the couple accedes to tie the sacred knot. In the roka ceremony, the families of the bride and groom meet each other and it all unfolds to begin a new relationship. The roka ceremony also symbolises that the young man and the lady have found their partner for life and that their search for a soulmate has ended. The family of the bride presents gifts, sweets, assorted dry fruits and money to the groom and his family as a sign of blessing. Usually, the ceremony is a humble affair which takes place in the presence of a few close ones from the respective families. The
