It was a long time coming, but Ott Tanak finally secured his first WRC win after 73 starts - at the Rally Italia Sardegna, driving his Ford Fiesta to perfection to keep the second-placed Toyota Yaris of Jari-Matti Latvala at bay, finishing with him just 12.3 seconds behind.

A distant third place was scored by Thierry Neuville in his Hyundai i20 who was 55.4 seconds behind Latvala. This result enabled Neuville to cut down his championship deficit to leader Sebastien Ogier to just 12 points.
