M2 Gets Angry

BMW M2 gets M3/M4 twin-turbo engine. Oh, yes

BMW HAS has hatched a fitter, meaner M2 armed with select best bits from the company’s performance parts bin. Known as the Competition, it borrows more than just a name from the respective M3 and M4 Competition pack variants. The muscled-up M2 has dropped its single-turbo N55 engine and pinched the M3/M4 S55 3.0-litre twin-turbo six.

Power is detuned from the S55’s original 331kW to 302kW for the baby-M coupe and it’s delivered from 5250 to 7000rpm. Proving that isn’t down to hardware, though, the closed deck engine block with plasma-coated bores handles an unadulterated 550Nm that hits as early as 2350rpm and lasts until 5000rpm.
